Expectancy is a vital part of our faith, in fact if you are not expecting you are not IN faith. The Lord taught me a very powerful lesson about how expectancy works and I want to share it with you.
Expectancy functions much like a lighthouse does in the natural. You see, the purpose of a lighthouse is to mark the way for ships to safely navigate their way to port at night without damage to the vessel. In the old days, without GPS, many ships were destroyed and sunk because they tried to navigate to shore without a lighthouse.
The lighthouse gives a point of reference so that the ship knows where all the dangerous reefs and shallow waters are. It lets the ship know where to come in. If for some reason the light goes out, or is blocked by heavy fog, the ship is supposed to drop anchor and not move until the light comes back on. With no light the ship does not come in.
As long as you are expecting your prayers to be answered, the answer is making its way toward you. When you stop expecting, your “faith light” turns off and the answer to your prayer drops anchor and stops moving toward you. It will not start moving toward you again until your faith is revived and your expectancy is turned back on.
Do you need a ship to come in? Are you believing for something that seems to be taking a long time? It is easy to get distracted and stop expecting God to come through for you. Maybe it is financial. Maybe it is healing. Maybe it is a lost loved one. Whatever it is you should ALWAYS be expecting for ships to come in.
Expectancy is a force of faith that draws to you what you are believing for. Remember Job? What he greatly feared had come upon him. The point is, fear works like faith. If you are in fear, you believe that what you fear has the ability to hurt you. It is perverted faith. Be careful what you expect and let the perfect love of Christ cast out any fear.
Mark 11:24 ~ Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Did you notice in that verse you are to believe that you receive WHEN YOU PRAY? Not in the future somewhere, but RIGHT NOW. Faith is always NOW. Things are won in the spirit first by faith and then they manifest in the natural. Once you pray and release your faith, you should EXPECT THE ANSWER TO BE SHOWING UP! If you do not expect it to happen, you are not in faith.
It is easy to tell if someones in faith, if they are truly expecting their prayer to come to pass, all you have to do is check their joy. If you truly believe you have received , you are happy about it. Check your joy meter (your face) now and then and shake yourself up if you need to.
If you have stopped expecting, got weary and fainted in your faith, turn the light back on. Your ship could be right off shore.
Mark 9:23 ~ Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
